-The heating component within the HVAC system for the Music Building is currently not operational. This does not affect MU109 Recital Hall, as it is served by a separate HVAC unit. If your area contains sensitive equipment, it is advisable to store it in the Recital Hall or an alternative location. -The contractor has identified a significant system malfunction and is actively working to complete the necessary repairs. -Technicians will place additional heaters in designated areas throughout the building to maintain a comfortable temperature.
Recently Resolved Incidents
On the evening of, 10/29, a lab hood incident occurred in Room 4040 when a water line inside the hood became detached from an experiment setup and discharged water onto the floor. Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) responded promptly and engaged a professional remediation company to address the situation.   Resolution Strategy:  Remediation is currently underway in the following areas: Corridors and ADA Restroom across from Rooms 4040 and 3040: Fans and dehumidifiers are in place. Room 4040: Remediation is limited to the side of the lab where the hood incident occurred. The remainder of the lab remains open and operational. Room 4030 (Staff Office) Room 3020 (Graduate Offices) Room 3030 (Cell Culture Lab) Room 3040 (Biochemistry Research Lab) Room 2020: Localized remediation near the hoods; ceiling tiles have been removed and fans are directed upward. Room 2030: Localized remediation near the hoods; ceiling tiles have been removed and fans are directed upward. Unaffected Areas: Room 2010 (NMR Lab): No water intrusion reported. 3rd Floor Faculty Offices: No impact from the incident.
Timeline:  We anticipate that resolution efforts will proceed as follows:  Remediation efforts are actively underway and will continue through Friday and into the weekend. We anticipate that affected spaces will be ready for use by Monday, November 3.   Ongoing Impact:  Dehumidifiers, fans, and other remediation equipment are currently operating in affected areas, resulting in elevated noise levels. Please note that the ADA restrooms (4040 and 3040) are temporarily inaccessible, as doors must remain open to support drying efforts. We ask that you exercise caution in these spaces—watch for taped cords and adhere to posted safety signage.
